Picnic in the Mountains

We had a picnic in the mountains yesterday. . . it was so nice to relax and hang out together. Our schedules have been pretty hectic lately and we really haven't had much time to spend as a family. Eric was working 3-11 pm last week and I was working 8am-5pm. . . by the time he got home from work I was in bed, and when I woke up in the morning he was still asleep. It was miserable! Any way, I'm only working 2 (maybe 3) days a week from now on. It's hard on the kids (and my house) to be gone so much. They are what's most important.

Any way. . . back to our picnic. We drove in to the mountains and found a fun camping spot by the river. We started a fire, roasted hot dogs and had S'mores. The kids wandered around, threw rocks in the water and picked wild flowers for 3 hours and enjoyed every second of it. What a fun day!

Daddy insisted they roast marshmallows before hot dogs :)

Yes- we cheated on starting the fire :) A bag of charcoal and lighter fluid- it had been raining for days and I knew everything would be water logged- my dad would be so disappointed in me!

Yum- the perfect S'more!

While Lexi picked wild flowers Brandon jumped off rocks. . . he's such a boy!

A fields of flowers. . . Lexi was in heaven!

What and fun day, I won't tell your dad about the fire! I am getting anxious for some s'mores with everyone posting about them - cousins camp is coming, we will make them then.

Marshmallow, rocks and flowers - you couldn't have found a more perfect place to spend the day.

I loved all the pictures, especially the one of Lexi picking wildflowers with her tie-dyed shirt (I love that shirt!). It was a blast hanging out with you this past week, it always makes me wish we'd do it more often.
